Building and construction & campus development

Kiel University’s campus is currently undergoing a complete renewal. By 2022, one third of the university’s buildings will be rebuilt or completely renovated, with a further third completed by 2026. This renewal will result in state-of-the-art research infrastructures. The Faculty of Engineering is getting a new research building, with ultra-modern research buildings and new buildings for other faculties also being added to the campus on Westufer. Lecture theatres and seminar rooms are being upgraded to the latest technological standards, and a joint specialised library will create attractive working conditions for the students. All in all, construction work will cost around half a billion euros. The university is thus amongst the largest urban construction projects in Schleswig-Holstein.

All construction projects are coordinated, planned and implemented by the CAU Facility Management team in close cooperation with Gebäudemanagement Schleswig-Holstein (GMSH).
